Disempowerment, embarrassment, eviction, and even homelessness can occur from events that are, in many cases, beyond people’s control.
Since 2012, Capital Region Community Services (CRCS) has been supporting the local community by providing 10 hours’ free basic gardening and yard clean-ups to 10 households every year.
This year, we have partnered with Housing ACT, Westpac, a large team of community volunteers, and CRCS employees and we want to make an even bigger impact in our community!
We can only do this with your help! If you can, please consider making a donation to the 10/10 Project today. CLICK HERE TO DONATE
Illness and mobility challenges had contributed to Angela and her daughter’s property getting out of hand, with the backyard becoming extremely overgrown. Feeling powerless and judged by everyone around her, she was embarrassed by the state of the yard.
Angela was also on the verge of being evicted from the property due to the condition.
Due to the selfless contributions from our volunteers, partners, and sponsors, Angela and her daughter were saved from eviction. They were empowered and able to start using their yard again. Their clothesline, previously overgrown with trees, was now accessible; enabling them to hang their washing out instead of using their dryer – contributing to significant financial savings for the family.
For Angela and her daughter, their backyard is now manageable and they can keep it under control themselves.
