CANBERRA, Australia – ACT Health has confirmed that a COVID-19 case has attended Ginninderra Early Childhood Centre during their infectious period. As of the 20th August 2021 Ginninderra Early Childhood Centre will be closed until further notice.
All educators, children, and families who were at Ginninderra Early Childhood Centre between 11:00 am to 5:20 pm on Tuesday 17 August have been contacted and notified of the testing and quarantine requirements.
Capital Region Community Services (CRCS) immediate concern is ensuring that all educators and families at the centre during the times specified are made aware of the situation.
Workplace health and safety is integral to CRCS. Since the start of the pandemic, we have adopted practices to ensure the risk of all educators, children, and families, being exposed to COVID-19 is minimised. This has included providing and mandating the use of masks, hand sanitisers, maintaining social distancing, and good hygiene practices in accordance with government guidelines.
Capital Region Community Services CEO Mandy Green responded “Our thoughts and well wishes are with the educators, children and families affected. I would like to thank ACT Health and the Children’s Education and Care Assurance Agency for their prompt action and support throughout this time. We will now turn our thoughts to supporting our Educators and Families through the quarantine period. The centre will be deep cleaned and reopened once we are provided the necessary clearance.”
