Nutritious delicious

5 June 2016

Pumpkin, mushroom and tofu curry, it certainly doesn’t sound like a meal an average 12 year old would enjoy does it? Well, it was an absolute hit with the five young people who attended Nutritious Delicious during the January school holidays. For five days, young people aged 11 – 14 cooked up a storm of lunches and afternoon teas. Along with the curry, favourites were shepherd’s pie, chicken and vermicelli noodle salad and, of course, brownies.

Nutritious Delicious has two main aims: introducing younger people to the youth centre to help them feel comfortable in the space, and learning to cook healthy and yummy meals. The young people loved learning together, meeting new people and of course, eating everything they cooked. At the end of the program, one young person said, “It was lovely; I enjoyed it and would like to do it again”.

Stay tuned for more cooking programs at the corner@bcs.
